We support the following issues and more:
Trauma
Everyone has some form of trauma - and it can have consequences. Some people recover quickly after a traumatic event, while others remain impacted. For those who remain impacted, or have uncertainty about their post-trauma reactions, psychological therapy is highly recommended.
Personality Disorders (PDs)
Everybody’s personality can get in the way sometimes. However, when personality traits cause ongoing or patterns of harm to yourself (and others) it can be viewed as a Personality Disorder. PDs largely emerge in adolescence and early adulthood and include forms such as avoidant, dependent, borderline, narcissistic, antisocial, paranoid, and many others.
The root causes and ongoing conflicts in PDs can take time to uncover, explore, and treat; all of which can be highly responsive to psychological interventions.
Anxiety
Anxiety is a universal and normal experience, but when it becomes persistent, disproportionate, or debilitating, it’s likely someone is suffering from an anxiety disorder. It may include excessive worry, panic attacks, and avoidance of people, places or situations.
Addiction
Addiction is a complex issue whereby people find it difficult to stop using a substance or performing a behaviour (e.g. gambling) despite the harm. Those experiencing addiction often have desires to quit, while others may not be able to recognise the harm that they are causing themselves and others.
Symptoms often include cravings, withdrawals, tolerance/desensitisation, and an excessive preoccupation with the substance or behaviour.
Depression
Depression is a term that encompasses a number of specific disorders, often characterised by persistent feelings of sadness and a loss of motivation and pleasure. It is typically accompanied by negative thinking about oneself, situations, and the world.
Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
OCD is a form of anxiety characterised by intrusive and distressing thoughts (obsessions) that drive repetitive behaviours or mental acts (compulsions) performed to alleviate the distress.
